Yes, you read it right. I was confined at the hospital. And it was my FIRST. Ever. In my life.
It all started last Jan 31, Saturday 8am. I threw up upon waking up. But that was only once and I took it aside. My family and I went out the entire day and everything was normal. Then the next day, the 1st of February, at around 6am, I woke up with a weird feeling in my stomach. I thought I was just hungry so I fixed myself a cereal meal (appetizer ko lang yon for breakfast dapat hehe). Everyone was still sleeping then and I didn't wake up daddy bunny yet since there wasn't anything to be alarmed about. So I finished one bowl of cereal (in fairness Rog, hindi lang sya fruitloops, may halo din syang cornflakes...
So that was the first of the day. I lied down in the couch, tried to sleep again, got up and threw up again, lied back, had a cup of tea, got up and threw up again. This went on until around past 9am for a total of 4 trips to the bathroom. That time, with each bathroom trip, there were already tears in my eyes coz I didn't have anything in my stomach and it hurt. Then I texted my OB and she told me to go to the hospital and have myself admitted because I'll get dehydrated if I continue like this. After the call and a small serving of noodles para may laman naman sana tyan ko, I went again for the 5th time.
And so, I was admitted at the hospital at around 12noon. I went directly to the Delivery room so that they can check baby Yui first. She was fine after they checked her heartbeat. They also performed an IE to check if I'm already in pre-mature labor. Yikes! katakot! Good thing, it was still closed and my baby's fine. After staying at the DR for almost an hour and after blood tests, they connected me to the dextrose and brought me to my room.
My OB wanted to make sure that this isn't a case of appendicitis. A very scary notion since this would mean surgery and it's really scary since my baby's still inside.
In the hospital, I threw up two more times and had a fever so they injected antibiotics. One in my arm and for the first dosage, three different injections in the IV. The third one was a monster, I blacked out a little. I couldn't see for a few seconds and everything was just blurry. What an experience! The injections went on until Monday noon in regular intervals.
On Monday afternoon, the OB came back with the diagnosis. There were still bacteria in my blood and then told me that she was looking at the wrong urinalysis result the day before (maybe the staff gave a different result or something), and that the actual result was that I had UTI. At least we were all relieved that I didn't have to go through surgery.
Then here I was, at home for a "complete bedrest with bathroom privileges" for a full two weeks. And just when I was about ready to go back to work on Monday, I had cough and colds since last Thursday. Amps! I can barely get some sleep at night with baby Yui getting bigger and now you have to add the flu. So I'm getting up every two hours or so... Haaay, I hope I'll feel fine come Monday.
