Easter Bunny hopping...

~ First Sunday ni Lui back in chicago
~ Went to Ate Glenda's at Long Grove, IL for easter

\(^_^)/

...

I don't know if its because of finally being able to open up everything that's happening to me without holding back...

Or the thought that I now have my friend with me and that there's someone here to listen and support us...

Or both.

But either way, the last 24 hours are the best thus far.

Tales of A Commuter Chicago Edition - Week 10 Part 1

They say "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

They say "enjoy your stay here and soak in the culture."

Ironically, the one thing that I enjoy is not their culture. The Nihon culture. And I don't know if that's even what the Romans in this city do.

But I don't care. whatever. It keeps my mind close to home.

What I like about this place is that you can easily get cool japanese stuffs. That's why I spend almost every weekend visting Borders. So far, these are the things that I was able to get here and some other stuff I bought with me from Manila. These are what keep me sane.

rows of (organized) manga at borders...

ang ganda magkaron ng bleach collection....ninuninuni

Shonen Jump: the first manga/magazine I bought
Fruits Basket Fanbook Cat: special edition fanbook which is so good and which is something Furuba fans will enjoy. Annjo.... alam ko nang pasalubong ko sa iyo! ^^

These are surprisingly good reads

my Bleach/Naruto toys... talagang dinala ko to sa luggage ko. Makes me smile whenever I see 'em

Not really Japanese, but got this from Borders too.

Tales of a Commuter - Chicago Edition Week 9

Brides For A Cause: Brides Against Breast Cancer

I love it when I go to a city and experience something unique, something that is not usually done by many (think attending a Japanese convention in Baguio). And this weekend, I got to have that experience here in Chicago.

Since February, Khandice was so excited about this charity bridal fair where they sell cheap bridal gowns (cheap in dollar standard but not in my divisoria standard. hehe). The event was scheduled March 7 and 8. So last Friday after work, Khandice with 4 of her friends - Anne, Raqs, Mags, me - went to the Brides Against Cancer event at Wyndham Hotel.

After spending 2+ hours trying on wedding gowns, Khandice (with the approval of everyone in the event) purchased her wedding dress.

After grabbing the dress and a couple of cheesecake lollipops, cookies and freebies, we agreed on helping clear up the place in exchange for free volunteer t-shirts ^^. So we sorted the dresses that were in the dressing room, arranged them and brought them back to the racks for it to be ready for the next morning. When we've finished and about to leave, the event coordinator Fran, said she have a problem and presented us a deal. Apparently, she lacks enough volunteers for the next day and said if all five of us can help them clear up on Saturday, she'd refund 100% of Khandice's dress. Imagine our shock and excitement -- the possibility of having the $770 gown for free! Everyone agreed on it!

So Saturday we were the Brides Against Breast Cancer volunteers... We spent 6 hours sorting through heavy gowns, closing zippers, putting 25 dresses per rack - and there were around 50 racks in that ballroom. What left us sane were Maika coming to pick her dress, having pictures taken, and Anne, Raqs and Mags also fitting gowns. I was the official photographer. At 8 pm, after putting gowns in zipper bags, protecting the racks with tarps, moving them outside in the cold to the trailer, we left the event. We were dead tired but it was all for a good cause. It was an effort to help breast cancer patients and of course to help Khandice get that dress for free. ^^

layout...

I'm actually not sure if I'll keep this layout. I feel the color is kinda bright..but i like the clean layout and of course the banner. though the message should be the other way around, i think.

Tales of a Commuter - Chicago Edition Week 8

As time goes by, I notice that the bloopers are going by as well. duh. As if naman posible yon!?! Anyhow, wala naman akong highlight na blooper...sige na nga random thoughts from the 2 weeks that passed na lang:

Random thought #1:
I now officially love Borders. Yung cool na bookstore. ^_^ I went to buy magazines na bilin ng boss ko when I saw and bought a copy of the 2008 NBA All-Star commemorative book/magazine and the March 2008 copy of Shonen Jump! Shonen Jump just happened to be a compilation of the coolest manga: Naruto and Bleach. Meron ding One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh GX and so much more. And the best part is walang tax ang magazines! Now I know where I'm a gonna spend my moolah. hihihihi ~_~

Random thought #2:
Thursday 2/28 - This is our February code build so the guys are all huddled in the huddle room (?) para daw quicker communication ek ek. Tapos yung mga kasama ko bigla na lang nagkwe-kwentuhan ng mga chicks...So what am i supposed to do? Mokong kasi sila eh, they provoked me. bwahahahaha!

Random thought #3:
Suns Fall to 2-4 Since Shaq Trade. 'nuff said. =(

Random thought #4:
Perhaps the biggest feat since I came here. Today I was able to upgrade the firmware of my PSP! Yatta! I updated my FW from 3.71 M33 to 3.90 M33. Thanks to na2r for the guidance and steps. =) Hindi ko sya na-brick! I'm not sure if people would understand how big of a deal that is, but that's great. ^_^ hehe. I'm now officially 1-0 with FW upgrades. Yey!
